Welcome to

Oakwood Créche was established in 1989 by Goretti Wynne and is operated and managed by her daughter Orla Wynne since 2000 and for 36 years have offered a home away from home environment for young children by providing a nurturing and safe environment in which to play, learn and grow.

We cater for children aged from 12 months to 5 years and using the basic principles of child development we follow a child led, Aistear and Siolta curriculum. Our qualified and experienced staff develop learning opportunities that are age appropriate, stimulating, engaging and foster learning and growth. We promote a home away from home environment with all children receiving a warm welcome from our staff. We place an emphasis on meeting the needs of the child.

Facilities

Our full day service includes 5 fully equipped day rooms with a strict adherence to educator/child ratio in each room as per regulations set by Tusla. This ensures the children get the attention and encouragement to thrive and develop a sense of identity and belonging that will build friendships, encourage problem solving, and help the child gain the ability and confidence to direct their own learning.

There is two outdoor play areas, one on the upper floor of the building, and one at ground level, which is partially covered and both have an all-weather play surface. Our covered area means the children can enjoy fresh air and outdoor play in rainy conditions, and tuff trays and chalk boards provide the ideal areas for mark making, messy play and a host of other educational activities.

Staff

At Oakwood we have a qualified, dedicated and very experienced team of educators with core staff being part of our journey for over 20 years. Our staff are passionate about what they do and are committed to providing the best care and learning experiences for your child. Our setting is small so children and parents will get to know all of our staff within the créche.

Our staff participate in regular CPD training and are trained in:

Paediatric first aid/ FAR
Manual handling
Children first
Aistear and Siolta

Nutrition

We provide fresh and nutritious ingredients in our food to promote a healthy relationship with food and provide the fuel to learn and grow.

We can cater for your dietary requirements. We follow a 4 week menu plan.

Our H.A.C.C.P trained staff and kitchen follow the food and nutrition guidelines for pre-school services set out by the department of health and children.

Schemes

Oakwood Créche operates with the NCS/ECCE schemes
and the subsidy that you receive will be deducted from your weekly fee.
